May 5th (Cinco de Mayo) is a national holiday in Mexico. In the United States of America, Latinos, Chicanos and various communities of Mexican origin have adopted this national holiday as an opportunity for celebrating their roots, defending their customs and the richness of their culture. Here, at The Village, Cinco de Mayo is celebrated annually with a Bikini Open - a pageant for male and female between the age of 18-30 wearing their casual and bikini outfits. This year, the pageant will be produced by a group of young professionals from the local town of Rosario.
